About
Southern California born and raised, Chris Christenson began his shaping career with a six year apprenticeship under the legendary Dick Brewer, as well as the close influence of neighbor and icon Skip Frye. Based out of Carlsbad, California, he has spent over three decades building one of the most respected and well rounded catalogs in the craft. Known for shaping everything from traditional fish and refined longboards to high performance shortboards, step ups, and heavy water guns, Christenson lives by a belief in having many arrows in the quiver.
His boards were ridden by big wave legend Greg Long through two big wave world titles, including wins at the 2008 Mavericks contest and the Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau event. In 2012, Christenson acquired Moonlight Glassing in San Marcos, one of Southern California's most respected glassing operations, where dozens of shapers' boards are finished alongside his own. Beyond surfing, he collaborated with big mountain snowboarder Jeremy Jones to create a line of snowboards that captured the congruence between surfing and riding powder. A true craftsman in every sense, Christenson continues to shape by hand with the same passion and precision he has carried since day one.
